HISTORY

The history of this image is the former live of this flower. They are well known in The Netherlands and you will find a serious museum and market in Amsterdam. But the former live of this flower is a bulb. Hundreds of species. Some of them are named like artists. This one I shot at home together with her brothers and sisters. I tried to focus on the edge. It’s like a birds nest when you use your imagination.

TIME

The Stone Age was a broad prehistoric period during which stone was widely used to make implements with an edge, a point, or a percussion surface.

The period lasted roughly 3.4 million years and ended between 8700 BCE and 2000 BCE with the advent of metalworking, as concluded in Wikipedia.

I do not think this wall has been made during that period. The picture has not, anyway.

HOPE

Today’s song: “Walk on with the hope in your heart” is frequently heard on radio and in TV-spots. It’s because of the virus spread over the world. Meant to inspire people and give them hope for the future. Years ago I saw this statue of chestnuts. Undisturbed they stood together. Offering shadow. Just offering…… during spring.

INSPIRATION

During my visit at museum ‘De Lakenhal’ in Leiden, a city in The Netherlands, I saw some work of Jan Wolkers.

Some work in glass, some paintings and some poetry. He inspired me enormously and from that day on my life went different. More decisions had to be made.

I bought a book about his work called: “Marszwart & Titianwit”. Its about painting with black and white, but for me its about inspiration.

I made a picture of one of his works with a view on Leiden. The city and museum he visited as a child.

BLEU HOUR

During my workshop at Tiengemeten the sun came at bleu hour. Satisfied about the work I have been done it was a true relief. As always the sun is decisive. Even better: the light is decisive. I have heard that before….. Someone informed us about that. A century ago I think.

WATER

Always the water is somewhere. Maybe you have to dig deep, maybe its on the surface. But it always can be found.

It’s easy said when you do not live in Africa. But I made an image of the water nearby during a very wet day. A workshop on the island Tiengemeten in the Netherlands.
