During a walk around one of the oldest harbours in Rotterdam I met one of the ships that are painted over and over again. I liked the colors immediately. In my opinion the picture asked for a square format because of the lines and that round element. The shadows are giving a harsh light during the midst of the day. I fell in love with the strong colors and the fact the skipper or the sailor was not looking for perfection. It’s more about “I did it my way”.
The hole in the body of the boat was not used anymore but in former days a rope came through to moor the boat. They thought about the color for the circle to be different or it went without saying.
ENJOY!
