DAY 41 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – DECORUM
DECORUM
Normally I don’t like weeping willows at all. I think they belong to cemeteries. All because of the sadness they display. To me there’s only one exception and that is spring. In spring, I think, they show their decorum in the brightest way they can do.
I do love the new green branches hang down.
In spring they decorate the darker trunks with their long vertical lines. Even the other trees, with their dark horizontal branches are lifting up a little bit because of the appearance of the verticals of the weeping willow.
Anyway, the weeping willow reminds me of The Kingston Trio with their song about
TOM DOOLEY
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Tom Dooley
Poor boy, you’re bound to die…
My friends and I sang these rules after making a goal in a game of street football. Although it was a happy period (1958) I never get used to weeping willows in general.
But today they surprised me and made me happy looking for a new picture of spring.
