DAY 031 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – LINES (2)

Because of yesterdays imposing exhibition I looked for some new lines for today. However I found some I was impressed by the appearing of spring along the lines of the thin apple trees. To me it is a miracle every year again. It is nature they say. Every year spring is calling me for emotions about a pleasant life. A gift of nature, like every season. Spring supports us with a new outlook on life. I feel attracted to the new possibilities of life as spring contains as far as I can see it. To me it is just a matter of taking action. As if nature tells us: ‘go, go, go with the flow’. And that’s exactly what I am doing the other day. Photography from the heart.

DAY 030 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – LINES

Werner Bischof

I visited the exhibition ‘Point of View’ from Magnum photographer Werner Bischof (The Hague Museum of Photography). A body of work about children playing amongst the heaps of rubble, of destruction and reconstruction, of sorrow and hope. I am impressed about his work, even the contact prints! I saw lots of (sharp) lines playing in black and white too.

DAY 029 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – LIFE FORMULA

LIVE FORMULA

Today I visited the Fotomuseum Rotterdam in order to find the description of the Life Formula. I had heard about it some days ago and I liked to find out the meaning goal. I visited the library containing lots of books about photography. I found a Life magazine as shown above. Over there, they are in possession of more than 10 annual volumes from the U.S. Of course I could not find the Life Formula in any magazine itself. So I had to look further to find a photographic book of that period. I got lost, which means if anyone can inform me about that formula please nominate me about it.

Meanwhile I enjoyed the publications of that time. With a lot of ‘painted’ advertising I concluded: ‘there is a time for everything’.

DAY 028 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – LOVE

In a split-second I realized why I love Holland. My todays biking concerned a trip to Schoonhoven. Biking through polder-land is surprising as always. Around every corner you can recover something new. Maybe you have seen it before, but anyway the setting feels as new as possible. So the reflection of the mill into the water surprised me. Just like the willows did, appearing along the sky. Both items asking for black and white.

DAY 027 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – CONSTRUCTIONS

No playing at draughts during springtime, but a lot of hard work by the construction of residential blocks. They made a nice milled edge like my first printed photographs, made with my Agfa Clack with the build in yellow filter. I had the choice of B, 1/25th and 1/50th second and had to wait a couple of days before I could collect the prints of my first film, a Adox KB17. Waiting with a lot of stress about the results.

I still own my first album with the sepia prints. A modern execution at that time.

DAY 026 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – SUMMERTIME

Tonight the clock was set to summertime. Which means one hour ahead; one hour of less sleep. The human body has to recover from such an operation. Meanwhile the first protest movement has published a petition with thousands of signatures for Brussels. In Mongolia the government has stopped to install summertime. All regulations do not matter nature at all. Nature reacts on sun, wind and water. Yesterday I saw the willow-tree along the water be in blossom and moving in the wind. Despite of clock time regulations it is summertime, so before everything has gone…..

DAY 025 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – FORTUNE

Fortune, the first word that appeared in mind, seeing the Cadillac Lady in front of the extraordinary car waiting in the street. Some people have a sailing yacht to be proud of. Others have a Stradivarius and photographers have their equipment. So had I, this afternoon. It’s amazing to be in front of an old Cadillac, being in a perfect and wonderful condition. According to the driver and his partner having a Cadillac means a lot of polishing. I could have photographed much longer, but due to enjoying our first soft ice I had to hurry. I made some extra shots and happily the wooden spikes got my attention. So, smile folks, smile!!

And of course Cadillac wise: lots of light.

DAY 024 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – LOSER

If you ever ask yourself how to get something symmetrical: look at this picture. This gardener must have a keen eye on lines. Both horizontal and vertical. Besides the spherical shape is well known. I don’t like to compete with him or her. I am sure to be the loser of that match. And who especially wants to be a loser?

DAY 023 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – VINTAGE

VINTAGE

Today, my ‘good old’ MacPro (mid2010 series) has been described as ‘vintage’ by Mac’s I-Centre! I was taken aback!! How is it possible! I cannot get used to such approach, because it’s not true. Only the graphic card is out of order. It means you should buy a new computer based on the meaning of Apple.

Further comments to be made by yourself please, as I only can exceed my comments.

DAY 022 – 100 DAY JOURNAL – MEMORY (2)

THE DAFFODILS BENEATH THE TREES ARE FLUTTERING AND DANCING IN THE BREEZE

Walking around and seeing those flowers, I remembered the first strophe of a poem immediately. I had to learn it during one of my first lessons in English. I did not like it that much as I do now. Time flies. As I told before, the past is always with you. Even when you are not conscious about it, it’s still there. Sometimes it will inform you unexpectedly. Well, I think I still know the teacher, the classroom and the position of my desk. I remember she was not beautiful at all, but it seems to me she knew everything from that language.
